"The Harbor Club" Penthouse occupies the top two floors of a luxury high-rise building downtown with 360-degree views of San Diego. The lucky ticket holders attending this program will enjoy two floors of indoor and outdoor spaces featuring these views.
Sue Palmer and her Motel Swing Trio, featuring vocalist Deejha Marie and bass player Sharon Shufelt with Sue Palmer, San Diego's Queen of Boogie Woogie, at the keyboard, will provide the music. The trio performs much more than swing and jazz; they also play some of the best boogie-woogie blues in the country and receive rave reviews for their high energy shows.
Sue Palmer is no stranger to the spotlight. For five years, she was the musical partner of blues diva and recording artist Candye Kane. They traveled the world together and appeared on the Penn & Teller Show and the Roseanne Show, where Sue acted as the talk show band leader (1999). She has also appeared at numerous jazz festivals and other venues in San Diego and across the country.
Ms Palmer's CDs, including her latest recording, Sophisticated Ladies, will be available for sale at the event. Her albums have been nominated for Best Blues Album and Best Jazz Album in San Diego and Live at Dizzy's received the Best Blues Album Award from the San Diego Music Awards in 2002-2003.
Champagne, wine and hors d'oeuvres will be served.
Funds raised from this event will directly benefit the Mission Hills-Hillcrest Branch Library.
